We are live!

I’m calling this the official V1.0.

We have the blog on my domain. Everything is built with Publii and then I’m exporting and using cPanel to upload and extract the files. Did I just learn that you can’t send unarchived folders over FTP? You bet I did.

This all took some time and much trial and error. And I know these are the simplest things, but I started with very little understanding of how websites actually work so I am a little bit proud.

I chose to host with Reclaim Hosting. They seem pretty cool and friendly. I like their founding story and mission to encourage students have their own domain and hosted space on the web. It all fits in with the Indieweb and what I’m doing right here on this site.

So what next?

Well blogging mostly. That is the main point. I will publish my longer-form blogs here and maintain micro-blogging over at micro.blog or in the fediverse. I’m not sure yet which one works best for me.

I’ll also bring over most if not all of my published Instagram posts to here or micro.blog too.

And on the web development front, I’ll slowing aquaint myself with Known which is the platform I think will host the blog in the long term.
