It seems like many bloggers are always reconsidering how they approach blogging, both which platform they use, and how they reconsile long and short form posts. I’m currently posting anything <300 characters to Micro.blog and longer writings to this site. But I feel like this creates such a fractured view of my life for a reader. There are no thematic differences to the content on each blog, one was originally thought of as a replacement for Instagram and the other for essay type pieces, but I seem to be writing blogs of a similar style around the 300 character to 500 word zone which get split between the platforms.

Long-term I am very sure I will combine the two blogs into a single stream of writing with simple navigation to different post categories. Although I like Micro.blog conceptually, it still feels like I’m posting to a cloud platform similar to Instagram without the social connections of the major platforms. I am mainly posting for family and close friends first, and to chronical my life second, not to engage with a wider audience or community.

In the short term perhaps I can keep my day-to-day posts all to Micro.blog even if they push over the 300 character limit. And this site may be monthly life wrap-ups and researched writings.
